Thanks for the quick answer and the interesting information.

I will test the hsqldb version and report the test results (actually the
test is started but it seems creating the hsqldb database takes lot of
time ...)

But, isn't there a lighter way to do that ? It seems a bit of overkill
as we only need to convert the points so that we can compute a 100 meter
buffer on them.
