Hmmm... not sure, this looks like the JDK crashing completely,
and during a compile, too...
I can only make guesses, like:
- your computer has some faulty memory banks and programs using
   lots of memory are starting to crash (that happened to me
   couple of years ago)
- your JDK has been corrupted somehow (try reinstalling it?)

I've seen cases of java crashing also due to misbehaving graphic
drivers, but Maven was not running the renderer module tests
at that time so...

If anybody else has experienced this please chime in.
