DataUtilities.defaultValue() throws exception for BigDecimal attributes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: GEOT-2479
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2479
Project: GeoTools
Issue Type: Bug
Components: core main
Affects Versions: 2.5.5
Environment: SuSE Enterprise 9, kernel 2.6.5-7.315-smp, tomcat 5.5.23,
Sun jdk 1.6r13
Reporter: Joshua M. Thompson
Assignee: Jody Garnett
Attachments: big_decimal_patch.diff
The defaultValue() method in DataUtilities doesn't know how to handle
BigDecimal attributes and throws an exception when one is encountered. This
manifests as crashes in Geoserver under certain conditions, such as trying to
build legend graphics for feature types with such attributes.
The trivial patch to fix this is attached. I'm running this patch with
geoserver 2.5.5 and it has fixed the issue for me.
