Hi, today I discovered the results of performance I've posted before on the mailing list turned out to be mistakes of mine.
I was testing GeoServer on my main machine, with other applications running. Yes, I closed down Eclipse, Firefox, Thunderbird and whatnot, but evidently the IM and Skype and whatever else runs on a GUI system resulted in non reproducable test results... and they happened to favor C3PO just by accident. Today I setup the notebook to run headless and run just GeoServer and PostGIS on it, whilst the desktop was running JMeter. And the results are... that there is no significant different between C3P0 and DBCP (triple sigh, no gain, just pain and shame... ah, such a poet today) Sooo... what do we want to do with that? Just throw it into the toilet, make that an option for people to try out? (there is a significant number of people that do favor c3p0, Hibernate for example).
