I am running through the list of dependencies used by uDig (and thus also
GeoTools) making sure the source code for each is available and can be compiled
etc...
Thus far the following have been identified:
apache commons lang
- upgrade to 2.3
batik
- upgrade to 1.7
- the source code for batik 1.6 does not compile; upgrading to 1.7 will do the
trick (but we will need to deploy the jars to our repository)

Justin recommended documenting what versions are used by geotools based
projects; since this is such a specific thing I would rather capture it as
documentation in the source code repository as a wiki page would always be out
of date on this one.
