Hi Jody, Yep - so the issue isn't related to the use of the reader, it's about the interaction between how I've coded JMapPane on the one hand, and the difference between how a supplied transform is treated when rendering vector vs raster layers on the other.
I'm hoping that there is some sort of cheap hack I can do in JMapPane to side step the issue for FOSS4G / ImageLab.
