Hmmm.... Jody, was the release of a RC ever discussed with the PMC? I haven't seen anything on the mailing list, maybe you collected opinions on IRC? I don't have a strong opinion against RC, GeoServer can just skip of GeoTools 2.7 and start using the new trunk right away if GS 2.1.x is not released soon, but I have a strong opinion against you deciding to go RC by yourself. RC is not just another milestone, it marks a point of no return where heavy changes start requiring a lot of vetting if not simply just direct application on the new trunk which will be release ready, well, not before 6 months? It's the kind of pace change that should be discussed and approved at the very least one month before cutting the release imho. So I'm -1 on a RC release unless everybody in the PSC is ok with it (the -1 is not on the RC per se, it's on the way it has been proposed, "RC this weekend", without early warning) Cheers Andrea -- Andrea Aime OpenGeo - http://opengeo.org Expert service straight from the developers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Sprint What will you do first with EVO, the first 4G phone?
