As far as I remember GMANE does not require our agreement to start collecting
mails and bridging news and mail worlds, just like Nabble does not, either.
As far as I know the geotools Nabble archives were created by some MapGuide
developer:

Soo... GMANE for devel, why not? If for some reason we start receiving spam
from it we'll just disable the bridge (easy as banning the user they
use to bridge
between the two worlds from the mailing list, no?)
