stable series, if binary compatibility is not broken.
If the rule was as strict as you say, we'd never been able to do any
feature backport in the past.
Makes me feel this is a new take of yours on API changes decided quite
recently, I don't believe it matches any
proposal or backport of the last few years. Happy to be proven wrong of
course, just point to an example.
