This already (ostensibly) has an online build running and passing: https://build.geoserver.org/view/geotools/job/geotools-master-online-mysql/ <https://build.geoserver.org/view/geotools/job/geotools-master-online-mysql/> I am a little suspicious as to how reliable those results are, since I didn't actually install a mysql db during the Jenkins migration and they still passed first try, so that could probably do with a bit more investigation.
