Ok folks,
first batch (unnecessary casts) is in, second one, diamond operator, is on:

   - https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/4605

Given the low amount of feedback, I'm tempted to just merge when they
become green, as it's another direct
follow up from the unchecked warning cleanup.

Next in line would be cleaning up the iterators to enhanced for loop, for
that I guess I'd wait a little more.
