The osgeo marketing committee can help; it is easy to add content to one of
the osgeo stores (there are several storefronts setup via the foss4g
conferences).

However the amount of support these generate is vanishingly small, and even
for the foss4g tshirts you could find other venues adopting the patterns
(with no understanding what they mean) in order to make a quick buck.

So I am fine if we do this for community spirit; but not if we expect a
revenue stream.

I am also a bit frustrated with sponsorship angle; apparently to be
successful we need an educational or outreach charity to accept funds that
can then sponsor specific activities for the community. This way folks
donating to the charity can get a tax break; as was done for GDAL.

OSGeo is set up as a different kind of organization (where the members may
make use of the funds) and while it can and does collect money for us, it
does not offer a tax break on donations.

For challenges like the recent security vulnerabilities I do not think
merchandising or charity
