It was an attempt in early Geotools 2 day to provides a framework for
GUI tools like "zoom", "pan", etc. in a widget-framework independant way
(i.e. should be the same interfaces for AWT, SWT, etc.).
We missed resources for pushing it further. Furthermore, since this
time, GO-1 specification is out, so we should probably take a look at it.
I don't know if the Tools in Geotools are currently supported? (anyone?)
Also, when checking in the release 2.1.0 about the gui classes I found
nothing. It does miss isnt it?
Some of them (the ones without dependencies to the legacy modules) moved
to their own module, in ext/widgets-swing.
