Sean,
I've looked over the code for the StyledMapPane and found that there
were not many options in terms of the interactive tools. You may have
to write these features yourself. I get the impression that the
GeoTools project is focused on different concerns.
As for question #3, I keep thinking that there is a way to retrieve a
geospatial feature based on a map coordinate, but am unsure of the
methods to do so.
Sorry this isn't much help. I guess I just have similar questions for
the GeoTools team.
