Hello,

I am currently evaluating, if GeoTools can be used as the framework for
developing a specialized GIS Editor as a thin client. We want to get the
background map from WMS, the edit featuretype from WFS and store the changed
features to the database using WFS-T (GeoServer). The client shall only
implement the user interface and the necessary interaction with the server
using standard interfaces.

I think that GeoTools can be used for getting the features from the WFS server
and manipulating them on the client, maybe even to render them on the client.
But I could not find out, if it is possible to use a WFS-T server to write the
data back to the server. If this is not possible it would help to be able to
generate GML from the GeoTools features.

As I am no Java developer, it is difficult for me to get this information from
JavaDocs only and I hope, that someone in the list can give me the answers and
help to decide, if it makes sense to invest more time in understanding GeoTools.

Best Regards,
Gerhard
