StyledMapRenderer itself is not planned to be maintained, and anyway has been
removed from latest
Geotools release. However, it is in process of being ported into a GO-1
compliant renderer. This
work is taking place in the ext/go module. However, it is not in a working
stade right now. The
reason is that I have been unable to find the time to work on it.

The StyledMapRenderer replacement (i.e. ext/go) still a high priority for me,
and I will work on it.
However I will not anymore venture in some timeline guide. I'm saying for 2
years that I will work
on it soon. According some past emails I have sent a few months ago, I was
suppose to work on it in
April. This thing didn't happened. I hope to work on it this October (after the
OGC meeting), but
given my failure to meet my previous timeline, I really can't promise anything.
