Do you get any other messages or exception besides the one about DB2 below? The trace message is from the DB2DataStore saying that your environment isn't configured for DB2 which is fine. The PostGISDataStore may not put out such a message when it is being checked.
I believe the PostGIS sample was based on GeoTools 2.0 and probably won't work with GeoTools 2.2 or maybe even 2.1.
