The definition of a CoordinateReferenceSystem is handled differently for shapefile and for postgis: - shapefile uses a ".prj" file (do you have one?) - postgis uses an SRID number (and a table containing a definition for each number) Please try the ShapeLab tutorial on the wiki and make sure you know how to make a Map.
