As a general rule, whenever you are trying to do anything related to referencing and coord systems, the first place to look is the CRS helper class. In your case I think this this method... CoordinateReferenceSystem parseWKT(final String wkt) ...is your friend. Please let us know how we can make things clearer in the User Guide and other online info, e.g. what unhelpful paths did you get lured down in the docs ?
