Hi all, I'am new to GeoTools. Currently we use MapInfo MapExtreme Server and ArcGIS Java Server 9.3 for different kinds of WebMapping Applications. But now we want to replace that Frameworks by GeoTools. I'am evaluating GeoTools since a few days. Checking Examples, Tutorials and Manuals. But some kind of information is hard to find or hard to figure out if its the best way...
I hope someone can give me a few Tips to the following topics. If everything works fine, i can provide geotools with some examples for the wiki. 1. We stored the Maps in a Oracle 11g Database (Locator only), imported there with shp2sdo tool from Oracle. But what is the best way to connect to this Maps from GeoTools? OraceDataStore/OracleOCIDataStore/JDBC? I heared something about JDBC ng? 2. The User of the WebMapping Application needs to modify several FilterCriterias or to join the Map with dynamic DataTables. We need to Join the Map in Oracle with a DataTable and rerender the map with a dynamic Colorrange. What could be the best practice for doing this? 3. I found several different Examples of showing the Map in a Java Panel. But i need to provide the Map as PNG Image as fast as possible. I use BufferedImage and GTRenderer to do this. is this the right way? Hope someone can help me with a few informations. If everything works fine, i will provide a WIKI Page for geotools to make the Information available for everyone. ----- Thank you!
