Michael,
Thank you for your answer. I have a subclassed JMapPane that I am
currently using to draw features to a layer, I may look at extending it to
display an image as a layer. I'm not sure about using a glasspane, since
I'd want the image to be it's own MapLayer Object.
What about this idea: Let's say you have a regular .jpg file that you
want to insert as it's own MapLayer object, but obviously there is no
georeferencing data. Once it is detected as a .jpg file and an
'UnknownFormat' object, I would then automatically make it into a World
File, based on the current CRS of the MapPane, by creating a .jgw file and,
by default, just dropping it on the center of the current view of the
JMapPane (some sort of auto-georeferencing by default)? So it would be its
own MapLayer Object on the Map Context. Once it is it's own MapLayer
object, I would then extend JMapPane so I can resize, crop, or move the
image around within its Layer and having some sort of save operation.
Again, I'm somewhat new to geotools, so this idea could be way out in left
field.
Thanks for your help,
Spencer
