Dear GeoTools users,

There has been some discussion on the GeoTools developers' list about
whether it's time for us to move to Java 6. On the one hand, Java 5
has officially reached its 'End Of Service Life'
(http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5/index.jsp) and it is no longer
straightforward to get the JDK installed. On the other hand, it's
been suggested that some GeoTools users require continuing Java 5
compatibility because of platform or workplace policy issues.

We'd like to know what you think, even if you don't care one way or
the other ! Please take a moment to visit this page where you can
vote:

As well as getting your vote, we'd also be keen to receive any
comments that you have on this question. e.g. features in Java 6 that
you'd like to see used in GeoTools; or particular problems that would
be caused for you by switching from Java 5. Please post your comments
to this thread.

Thanks,
The GeoTools Developers
