Hi Simone sorry my short explanation.
I'll explain a little bit more. Let's say that i have 5 folders each folder has 500 tif files. If i open each file separate layer i get 2500 layer's for me it sounds too much. I thought that if i could make only 5 layers like each folder is a layer? I can not do imagemosaik on every folder, because my customer want's to copy these image folders anyway they want, so image count's on foleder can be change. So far i have only find on gridcoverage which i can make a layer, but if there is some another same kind interface to do this, i'll more than happy to hear it. - Juho ----- Original Message ----- From: "Simone Giannecchini" <[email protected]> To: "Juho Kokkonen" <[email protected]> Cc: "geotools users" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2014 5:39:33 PM Subject: Re: [Geotools-gt2-users] GridCoverage Ciao Juho, let me see if I get this right. You are currently mosaicking those images through the imagemosaic which creates an index internally using a shapefile. You wanted to do the same _without_ the creationg of a shapefile, right? Well at the moment the index is created automagically and by default it's created in a shapefile. Alternatives are spatial DBMS or H2, hence "something" is always created to store the index because we don't want to do this at each access. Your goal id NOT creating the index on a file at all or simply NOT using a shapefile? Regards, Simone Giannecchini == Our support, Your Success!
