Which type of "Metadata" do you need to add? JP2 is based on a "Boxes" structures (different boxes for different "topics" + generic boxes). Moreover, *JP2KKakaduImageWriter *has been originally developed for a "specific" use case so at the moment it only supports GeoTIFF Box for JP2 metadata encoding and single write. Anyway, the project is open source: https://github.com/geosolutions-it/imageio-ext Therefore, if you have some experience in java coding, you can consider discussing and collaborating to implement the required improvements which are always welcome.
