I do not have an example, but I assume you would go through and "crop" the
grid coverage, saving each resulting grid coverage as a GeoTiff on disk...

This would actually make a good tutorial since it has a clear
understandable goal, and shows how to use an operation (crop) and
imageio-ext (to encode on disk).
