Only thing I can see is the xml:boundedBy element, I know it is defined by
the abstract feature. Can you set up a geotools test case with your XML
snippet?

Aside: We usually have an "online test" to double check geotools works with
the latest geoserver but it has not been running on build server (leading
to regressions like this).
