I've worked with one that can (supposedly) last 7 years without recharging: The GlobalStar AxTracker. Of course, it was only getting a fix and reporting once a day.
The guess of a week was just that: a guess. More of a hope, actually. :) I would, however, be disappointed if it lasts less than two or three days.
