I'm wondering if there is enough interest in a Seattle
meeting. We're in the process of moving to new digs, but I think it would be
possible to host something in November if others are
interested.
We're also planning on doing some open houses for the
geocachers out there. It's been interesting seeing the social aspect of
geocaching take off. People really enjoy putting faces to avatar names and
logbook entries.

Mapping, Inc. is proud to announce the first (of hopefully) many
geo-get-together events for those in the Bay Area. On Thursday October 5 the
doors of UMI will open at 6.30pm (not literally--you must ring a bell), we'll
begin at 7pm and we look forward to seeing you. It will be a BYOS (bring your
own stuff) event--beer, snacks, cola, etc is welcome. We'll provide the
'infrastructure.' Our office can't hold more than 20 people or so, so we ask
that you RSVP to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and indicate how many in your
party.
Some info about our (evolving) ideas for the evening...
For our inaugural event, Rich Gibson will speak on geocoded audio to support mobile storytelling, defining informal space, tagging photos to waypoints (and vice versa) (think travelogues) or another topic. Mike Liebhold will bring "some kind of treats" and share some news from his recent meetings with ESRI, Tim Berners-Lee, Intergraph, Nokia, Microsoft Vrtual Earth, the UK Ordinance Survey, TeleAtlas, deCarta and others about open mapping. There will be plenty of time to drink, meet others and be merry.
