Call for Geospatial Data Manager

Interactive Earth Multimedia Software and Curriculum Project
Organization: WorldLink
Position: Geospatial Data Manager for educational software program
Location: The Presidio, San Francisco, CA

DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a Geospatial Data Manager for an educational software program that includes raster and vector datasets, satellite and space shuttle images, and time-series animations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Work directly with data providers to ensure that files are delivered in the correct format and with accurate geo-referencing and metadata.
•    Convert datasets and images to formats specified for product.
•    Process images and create color palettes when necessary.
•    Manage the flow of content from data providers to software engineers.
•    Catalog and track all media assets.
   
QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Experience working with geospatial datasets and fluency with vector, raster, image, and terrain data.
•    Experience  with GIS standards, file formats and tools (e.g. ESRI .shp, Google Earth .kml, .geotiff, Adobe Photoshop)
•    Working knowledge of XML; experience with KML a plus.
•    Excellent organizational and communication skills.
•    BS in Computer Science or Geosciences a plus.

TERM:
October 2006 to March 1, 2007

Interactive Earth is a collaborative project of WorldLink Media, TERC, NASA Goddard, and World Resources Institute with funding support from the National Science Foundation.
