Howdy,
I just wanted to drop you a line about Where 2.0. It's going to be
here in less than two weeks! I have a couple of things that I wanted
to share with you all.
First, there is a 35% discount code for you to use when registering:
whr07geo. There are other discounts available on the site as well.

Second, we've got a great schedule at Where 2.0. It's really come
together with the help of Schuyler Erle, Mike Liebhold, Andrew
Turner, Miten Sampat, Mikel Maron and Ian White. To bring together a
great lineup.
We're going to hear from all of the major internet mapping sites:
Microsoft (who'll be doing a BOF explaining how they make Virtual
Earth), Google (we're going to hear from both John Hanke & Michael
Jones), Yahoo! (doing a co-presentation with OSM), and Mapquest
(talking about the ethnography study they just conducted).
There will be a lot of discussion around data. Mike Liebhold will be
leading a panel on 3D data. Ian White is going to discuss taxpayer
data. Sean Phelan is going to discuss some of the data issues that
occur when your site goes global. Tele Atlas is going to bring one of
their Mobile Mapping Vans
We've also got a lot of location aware devices this year. Garmin is
joining us for the first time. Dash, the internet-connnected GPS,
will have something to say (as well as handing several Beta
invitations out to Where attendees, if you want a chance fill out the
survey -> http://tinyurl.com/2yyrr2). We'll also hear from several
mobile players who are working on (or enabling) geo apps: Loopt,
uLocate, and SkyHook.
You can see the full schedule at: http://tinyurl.com/yorlyz
We're also going to have the Where Faire again. HP will be letting
people play with their new geo-game platform. Poly9 will talk about
their new transit plan. Will Carter will show off MobZombies. The
people behind MITs iFind network will also be present.
We're adding a new event this year Ignite Where & Launchpad. It's
Monday night (the 28th). It's open to the public and there will be
free beer. We'll have a series of five minute geo-related
presentations. Each presentation is 20 slides long and each slide
switches at 15 seconds. We're also going to have launches from
GeoCommons, Dopplr, Swivel, FatDoor, and UpNext. You can see the full
current schedule at http://tinyurl.com/yub2vh. If you want to give a
talk sign-up here: http://tinyurl.com/ysbefn (final talk selections
will be made on Monday the 21st). I hope you can make it.
Third, Where 2.0 is just the beginning of "two weeks of geo" in the
valley. If one were so inclined, you can attend four separate geo
events in 13 days -- you'll see me at all of them. Here's the info on
all of them.
Where 2.0 - 5/28-30 in San Jose
Google Dev Day - 5/31 @ Google in Mtn View -> http://tinyurl.com/2x5hbh
WhereCamp - 6/2-3 @ Yahoo! in Sunnyvale -> http://wherecamp.pbwiki.com/

if you aren't able to make it to Where 2.0, you'll be able to follow
along at http://twitter.com/where20
Hope to see you soon,
