http://meadanglobe.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/opengl/ is where I threw the
cygwin opengl version

and

http://meadanglobe.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/iphone/ is a running iphone
version using OpenGLES ( the OpenGL profile for mobile devices with thanks
to http://del.icio.us/tag/iphone+opengl ).

the iphone version is kind of cute but very preliminary; i suggest you
actually build and install yourself with a working iphone-dev toolchain
rather than trying to just run the app binary ( although i did upload a copy
of it to svn). defects currently include failing to use optimal opengl
methods, no quaternion arcball thingie, occasional self-intersecting faces
due to being at the origin with the camera, not playing nice with the iphone
windowing system, no custom app icon, no wms, no zooming... and use at your
own risk obviously.

playing around with this i see that pretty much everything you can imagine
coming to the iphone will eventually be there; tons and tons of 3d games,
ports of every single little opengl demo ever written etcetera; it's a
fantastically fast piece of hardware and even the unsupported iphone-dev
toolchains are quite solid. by february when the real dev tools come out it
may be arguable if even worth the bother to switch over to them.

if time permits i will improve this, maybe plot georss and platial georss
feeds, fetch osm tiles, connect to the celltower triangulation code used by
iflickr and the like.

as usual other contributers are always welcome to hack on this, make fixes
and the like.
