While browsing around for Tasmania data I noticed how much work it was to build gtopo30:
http://edc.usgs.gov/products/elevation/gtopo30/README.html#h2 In particular it was intriguing to note the use of known locations of rivers to help improve the elevation data. And how completely obsoleted gtopo30 was by SRTM 1,2 and now 3: http://vterrain.org/Elevation/SRTM/index.html http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/ And it becomes very interesting to see how folks are building applications on top of various related datasets - largely all highly dependent on elevation data: http://www.csi.cgiar.org/CGIARGeoSpatialTools.asp I've historically wanted to see exist a community driven game-like simulation of the world; where people could noodle around with simulated impacts of various decisions on their local watersheds... - a _______________________________________________ Geowanking mailing list [email protected] http://lists.burri.to/mailman/listinfo/geowanking
