the Google guy at the "elite private VGI" gathering in Santa Barbara mentioned something like 7 million "My Maps" instances, 300 million Google Earth activations, more than 50,000 API sites (that doesn't sound correct -- should be a lot more), and estimated 1000 human lifetimes spent looking at satellite photos! Of course, this is only Google, and this was 3 weeks ago.
