Dear all,

I am recruiting a research fellow in environmental social science to work
with me at Dublin City University. This 2-year post in the is funded by
Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and will support the
development, writing and production of Ireland’s first Five Year Assessment
Report on Climate Change.

The report will provide an authoritative assessment of our understanding of
climate change in an Irish context. The report will be provided in a series
of four thematic volumes with an overarching synthesis report. Three of the
four volumes will reflect the structures used by the IPCC in addressing
fundamental scientific understanding, adaptation to climate change and
mitigation of climate change. The fourth volume will focus on realising the
benefits of the required transition and transformation arising from climate
change.

Funding has been provided by the EPA to DCU to lead the writing of Volume
4, “Realising the benefits of transition and transformation”. The
successful candidate will work with me to research, develop, and deliver
this volume of the report. The volume will explore how the transition to a
climate resilient and climate neutral economy and society can be
facilitated, including the role of relevant enabling conditions across the
domains of (i) governance and policy, (ii) finance and economy, and (iii)
society, engagement and education, among other relevant fields.

Applicants should have a PhD in environmental social science with a focus
on climate change. Applicants should also have a minimum of 4 years’
relevant postdoctoral research experience or equivalent.
