Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new special issue of
the *Journal
of European Integration* on the topic "The European Green Deal and
democracy".

Collectively, the articles in the special issue contribute a variety of new
empirical, conceptual and theoretical insights on the crucial intersection
between democratic governance and the European Green Deal. The different
contributions in the special issue examine democratic elements in the EGD
and surrounding governance structures by exploring alternative sources of
democratic innovation, including deliberative mechanisms and social
movements, as potential avenues for transformative change.

The special issue in an output of the Jean Monnet network GreenDeal-NET:
Governing the EU's Transition towards Climate Neutrality and Sustainability
<https://www.greendealnet.eu/>.

The special issue is available here
<https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/geui20/47/2>. Several of the articles,
including our editorial introduction, are available open access. The full
table of contents is below.

Regards,

Diarmuid Torney, Aron Buzogany, and Louisa Parks
