The Department of Government of the College of William & Mary invites
applicants for an anticipated tenure-track appointment in International
Relations/Environmental Politics and Policy at the Assistant Professor
level. Applicants from all theoretical and methodological
perspectives are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to
applicants with some combination of: formal or quantitative methods;
expertise in comparative environmental policy; marine policy; trade and
environment; foreign aid for the environment; public health and the
environment; environmental NGOs; or comparative public opinion on the
environment. In addition to teaching courses in the Government
Department, the candidate will contribute to both an interdisciplinary
Environmental Science and Policy program and to a public policy program
at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The specific content of
these courses will reflect the candidate’s own research and teaching
interests.
The Department of Government consists of 20 full-time faculty members,
and graduates more than 150 students each year with a major in
Government. Students majoring in International Relations and Public
Policy complete a substantial number of their courses in the Department
of Government. The College of William & Mary, the second oldest
university in the United States, is one of the nation’s most selective
institutions. It enrolls approximately 5,000 undergraduates and 2,500
graduate and professional school students. Salary, research support, and
teaching responsibilities are highly competitive. The position is
contingent upon final funding approval.
Applicants must hold the Ph.D. in political science or public policy, or
produce evidence that the Ph.D. will be completed prior to the beginning
