Dear Per Olaf:

My book, Earth Negotiations (2001 UNU Press), does a comparison of duration of a
number of international negotiations and focuses on the process of multilateral
environmental negotiations, as examined in 13 different cases.

Subject: negotiation literature

Dear all,

while there is an abundant body of academic and popular literature out
there on almost every and even the smallest aspect related to climate
change policy, politics and science, I really have had a hard time in
finding thorough in-depth analyses of the negotiation processes leading
to the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol and even more difficult of the
Marrakech Accords. Many of the studies which I found so far rather
discuss, evaluate and assess article by article the Protocol's and
Accord's implications from different perspectives and provide only for a
general overview on the negotiations with a an almost exclusive focus on
the positions of parties but only to a minor extent on the process
itself. Could you please help me with some references?
Moreover, I would be grateful if you could tell me where I may find an
article comparing the duration of negotiaitons of different
international environmental agreements. I read something about such an
article but surprisingly and unfortunately there was no reference.

Thank you very much!

Per-Olof
