Environmental Policy: The Departments of Political Science and Civil
and Environmental Engineering seek candidates in the area of
environmental policy for a 9-month academic year tenure track position
at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 16,
2008. Applicants are expected to hold a doctorate in political science
and at least a B.S. in a science or engineering discipline related to
environmental protection. Candidates should have strong methodological
skills, rigorous theoretical focus, and a strongly quantitative
research approach. The successful candidate will be expected to
develop an externally-funded research program that complements an
emerging bio-economy initiative and the Environmental Science and
Policy Program. The tenure home for this position will be in Political
Science with a partial appointment in the Department of Civil and
Environmental Engineering. The selected individual will be expected to
teach undergraduate and graduate courses in political science, and to
develop one course in environmental or technology policy suitable for

Michigan State University seeks a faculty member in the area of
environmental policy and coupled human and natural systems. The
appointment will be joint between the Environmental Science and Policy
Program and the Department of Political Science. Political Science
will be the tenure home for the position. This is one position in a
cluster of several focusing on coupled human and natural systems. We
are especially interested in researchers who apply modeling to
understanding human-environment interactions. The appointment will be
tenure system at the Assistant Professor level on an academic year
basis. Ph.D. or equivalent is required at the time of the appointment.
Candidates should have strong methodological skills and rigorous
theoretical focus. International experience or demonstrated interest
in international issues is an advantage. The position will be
structured to allow development of internationally renowned research
programs with extramural support. Preference will be given to
candidates who could engage in an initiative to introduce
computational and other formal modeling techniques into the
undergraduate social science curriculum. Letters of application should
