Assistant Professor, Environmental Policy and Management
The Center for Environmental Sciences and Education (CESE) at
Northern Arizona University
invites applications for a full time, tenure-track assistant
professor position in environmental
studies and policy. The position begins in August 2008.
This position will be responsible for advising, curriculum
development, and instruction in the
undergraduate environmental studies and sciences programs and the
graduate environmental
sciences and policy program. The candidate’s background should
include a focus on science in
support of environmental policy or management decision-making. The
successful candidate will
develop and/or maintain research interests, broadly defined, in
environmental policy and be
willing to develop an agenda pertinent to the Southwest. Candidates
must be able to teach
classes in environmental studies and policy at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels. We
encourage applications from candidates who are willing to incorporate
web-based delivery
strategies in their teaching.
Minimum Qualifications:
• PhD in a social science or interdisciplinary environmental sciences/
studies completed by
August 1, 2008
• Academic preparation and research interests in environmental policy
• High potential and/or a demonstrated record of securing and
implementing grants that
support graduate student research
Preferred Qualifications:
• A focus on science in support of environmental policy or management
decision-making
• Experience in environmental problem-solving from multi- and
interdisciplinary
perspectives, in particular those with experience at the interface of
environmental
science and policy/management
• Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment
• Success attaining external support for research
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching
• A commitment to working effectively within a diverse university
community

Environmental Sciences
