I changed the ornacycline in Spikey's water so it is fresh. I also removed the aspen yesterday and put in corncob bedding with lots of toilet paper for nesting material. I know everyone agrees that aspen is the best but the only thing I did differently this week was added a lot more aspen to the acquarium (allergy?). Both Spikey and Clifford are healthy. All the pups needed their nostrils cleared this am, two were blocked solid with dried stuff. I used a moist paper towel and gently wiped it away. They are all still nursing and have milk in their bellies. I really don't want to give them the antibiotic by mouth because I'm not sure of the dose. They should get enough through Spikeys milk shouldn't they? I'll let you know of any changes>hopefully their noses will stay clear. Thanks for the replies and suggestions, I'd be lost without you guys!
Both my gerbils had an allergy to Aspen, even though It's not supposed to be an allergen for the most part. They seem to be doing better with corn cob, but I'm not sure they like the pellety texture.... I'm going to try the paper litter next time they run out... anyone have any yeas or nays for either one?
