All this talk of genetics and color makes us feel as though we were in the
middle of a "Who'es on First" routine. We have two grey females that fit the
general description below except Cottonblossum has red eyes while Pewter has
black ones. ???? We *thought* they were doves but now are hopelessly
confused. BTW can anyone recomend a good site or book that explains gerbil
genetics in precise and plain speech?

Kathwyn and the Mossflower clan
>If your gerbil has red eyes, no white belly, and is a solid medium grey
>with airs that when you blow at the fur are only grey, you have Lilac.
>Sapphires are lighter, and Doves are lighter still. All other greys have
>bands of white or black on the hairs of their fur.
