What I've read so far, indicates that groups of several male gerbils can be kept together if properly introduced, provided the cage furnishings are relatively simple so as not to encourage territorial fighting. If I leave the gerbils I have now in their present living arrangements, there will soon be many more gerbils than I can comfortably take care of. I plan to keep my existing breeding pair together and allow them to continue breeding for a few more litters (or until I can pin down their genes as accurately as possible), but I want to prevent any other new litters (aside from one litter which is already on the way, which will be my orignal breeding pair's grandchildren... ["grandpups?"]). I'd rather strategically separate them than take a bunch of them to the vet to be neutered or spayed. My question is, what about the females? Can I put sibling or similarly-aged young females into pairs or small groups? Rick
