Are their any bites anywhere else? Look under the fur on the back and
underneath.

Probably dominance.

It could be many things. A stroke etc.

Probably not. The legs may just be injured because the other gerbil
attempted to cannibalise the remains. This is normal.

You will need to use a split cage but it probably is worth doing.
