Well, I told you I'dgive you the scoop on what in the world is going on with
Gibby, so here it is...

If you all remember, Pancake was involved in a fatal accident not too long
ago and left poor Gibby without a partner. I talked to the boys about it,
and they say she was dropped onto tile while one of the two older boys was
carrying her. I decided that because it was an accident I'd give them one
more chance before taking the gerbils away. I did not, however, want to
leave Gibby alone without a cagemate, so I offered to take Gib and introduce
her to one of my gerbils (originally Milly). (Although their babysitter, who
was looking after them while their father was out of town, had already gotten
them a pair of hamsters, she was still looking for another gerbil to replace
Pancake. To tell you the truth, I was a little astonished when I talked to
her about taking Gibby over to live at my house temporarily while she was
being introduced to another gerbil, and she said that she hadn't even heard
or thought of graually introducing them! I suppose she thought rodents
aren't territorial? I guess maybe it's just animal crazy me who *assumes*
everyone else knows or cares to know much about most animals, much less
rodents lol. I can imagine some pretty nasty fights erupting from that,
though!) Anyway, the day I brought her over to my house also happened to be
the day that I found Horsefeathers. (And also the day where I realized how
territorial gerbils can be, thanks to Titanic.) As I said, I would have
started introducing Horsefeathers instead except that I would not want to
accidentally pair her with a boy--and since I cannot tell what sex Horsey is
yet I can't introduce her. Now I'm thinking maybe I'll try introducing
Titanic instead, since she seems to be the one with a grudge against
intruders. Radar will not be happy to lose her partner, though, I don't
think. Anyway, what do you all think about trying to introduce Horsefeathers
back into Radar's colony and Titanic to Gibby? I really don't know if it'll
work... If it doesn't then I guess I'll just have to take my chances and try
to pair Horsefeathers with another pup from her litter, male or female who
knows... We went out to Wal-Mart today and I bought more aspen and a small
plastic cage for Horsefeathers, so she's not in the ball anymore and at least
has a little room to stretch her legs... When I transferred her, though, she
was acting kinda funny. Also I noticed that her rear underside looked wet or
baling or both, but I couldn't get a very good look at it because
Horsefeathers was twisting artound and squealing something awful. I had to
scoop her up as best I could in the gerbi, ball's tight quatrters since she
wouldn't come on my hand--not even for a sunflower seed. She's better than
most of the second litter about my hand, and always got on and off fine ever
sice I caught her again until now, especially when she could have sunflower
seeds. She is in love with sunflower seeds, but she didn't seem to want the
one I offered her tonight. I'm going to go see if she settled in enough to
where I can try and get a good look at her now, since I think it's been a few
hours.
