Sand is important

While browsing other people's web pages I noticed that "sand" is rarely described as important for Gerbils . From my own experience (and from logic while in wild they live in desert) the sand "corner" or "bowl" is a - must have for every gerbil owner . My gerbils have 15*15*15 cm corner (in their aquarium) with a few centimeters of sand in it (which I change every 2-3 days). They dig it , use it as a toilet and most of all I cant describe their joy when I change it - thel keep on rolling in it - and thus keeping their fur in a good shape . One of the things that you should have in mind when puting souch a bowl or something that it should be at least 5 inches (12 cm) deep , otherwise they 'll throw everythin out while digging . Enjoy !
