I did a "nail color check" on my dark-eyed, non-spotted gerbils, which includes two "mystery LCP," a burmese, a CPN, a slate, and LCP slate at the moment. One reason was to try to determine what my "mystery LCP" could be. My burmese and CPN have brown nails. My slate, LCP slate, and one of my mystery LCP gerbils have clearish, light grey nails. (That LCP mystery gerbil basically looks like a LCPN without darker points but with ticking or like a polar fox with cinnamon ticking). The other LCP mystery gerbil had similar clearish, light grey nails, but with a slightly darker line running along the top of the nail. The latter LCP mystery gerbil basically looks like a BEW except he has some scattered black ticking in his tail, noticable only upon inspection. Here's my questions: (On non-spotted gerbils) Do all gg-based gerbils have the light grey, clearish nails as described above? Are there differences between any nail colors of gg gerbils? What about the colorpoints? Do all G* colorpoints have brown nails? What about light colorpoints? Similarily, what about all C*G* gerbils - do ALL have black nails, or do they differ in color? Has anyone bred a light or colorpoint silver nutmeg that has been *confirmed* a L/CPSN by breeding, and what do they look like? I've heard reports that they may look a lighter silver nutmeg but with darker points but I don't think anyone has verified this by breeding. What about a light or colorpoint polar fox? Any *confirmed* L/CPPF out there and what do they look like? (Include nail color here, too). If anyone can help me out with any of this, it would be greatly appreciated. If I can get information on nail color as complete as possible, I will add it to my website to help others.
