If your intentions are good then I think a rescue shelter would be a great
idea. If you get the funding and start this who will care for the gerbils
when you go away to school etc? This would be a big commitment. Maybe a
better idea would be to set something up with a local shelter and raise
funds for them to provide the care? You could still raise the money and
collect the toys etc and maybe over see their care.
