Diatomaceous Earth can be found at garden centers and Co-ops, it works by breaking down the exo-skeletons of the insects. But I don't know if it is safe to use on gerbils. What purple martin landlords do is replace the nesting material when it is infested. If they can't they dust DE around and under the birds nest, it controls mites and lice. I thought it might be safe because it is natural and used with birds. What do you think Julian?
