Yes I think you are right Rick, isn't it used in swimming pool filters as
well? I did see it at White Rose nursery last fall, I was going to pick
some up for my garden this year, we get earwigs yuk! Then I read the mite
post and wondered if it would be safe to use. Kanayla didn't say whether
she tried the bird mite spray like suggested by Julian earlier. Kanayla if
you read this, what have you tried to get rid of them with?

Also, aquarium hobbyists use DE in some types of water filters.  You're
likely to find it in aquarium shops.  Not sure of other brands, but I
know Marineland sells it for their Magnum line of canister filters.
