....When I was younger, my li'l brother taught one of our gerbils to do
that.....and since then there was no stopping him......so we did exactly
what you suggested and set aside "gerbil shirts".....they were hilarious!
After a month or two we called them "summer shirts" because they were so
"well ventilated" :oD
Gerbils are natural born chewers, so there's not much hope for breaking that
particular habit once they develope it.....a suggestion however...find
something else the gerbil likes to do when he's out...and anticipate when he
is going to make a grab for your shirt and then give him something else to
do instead..... perhaps give him a treat (something else to chew
on)....shift him to a differnt position.....or even give him a piece of
paper to chew on instead (we used to get quite a kick out of watching ours
"sign" cards, pictures we drew, or just old scraps of paper)....just as long
as it's anything BUT your t-shirt....
Hope that helps a little.

1yr old and has always had this bad chewing habit. U see, she chews through
all of my shirts so I have to roll my sleeves up or wear a t-shirt. She
never bites my skin, but if I'm wearing a long sleeved shirt she chews right
through it.

Can you set aside one shirt or two to be "gerb-handling"
shirts and use only those while playing with them? Perhaps
a couple of really cheap t-shirts or something.
